Católica Holds Self-Discovery Workshop Through the Lens of Photography
2025
“A light-hearted, fun and at the same time very profound workshop that leads us to question who we are in a creative and inspiring way”. This is how Beatriz Villas Bôas, a member of the UCP4SUCCESS team, describes the session “SELF: A visual self-discovery”, organised by Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
The creativity and personal development workshop, led by Maria Xavier, took place on 21 May at Católica’s Headquarters in Lisbon. Through the use of photography, the UCP4SUCCESS event provided moments of sharing, personal reflection and learning.
The workshop was divided into two parts. The first part was based on the quote by Anaïs Nin: “We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are”, which guided students in the search for their own way of seeing, through practical exercises in self-knowledge and creativity.
Between the two parts of the workshop, there was a Lunch Break that allowed participants to socialise and make new connections. The second and final part of the session, focused on the different conceptualisations that exist within the world of photography, aimed to introduce various ways of taking photographs in order to encourage everyone’s artistic expression.

This project is supported by the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES) and the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
