On 9 April, Universidade Católica Portuguesa – Braga Campus hosted the event “Being in Motion” (“Ser em Movimento”), an initiative that brought the academic community together in an invitation to inner reconnection, through dance, spirituality and socialising. Promoted by the UCP4SUCCESS project, in collaboration with CAB, Cuidar*te and AEFFCS, the event provided moments of sharing, reflection and movement.

The afternoon began with a social lunch at CAB, strengthening the bonds between students and the academic community and bringing together more than 80 people. This was followed by the “Rhythm and Essence” workshop, led by Fr. Paulo Duarte, SJ, who guided participants in a sharing session that explored rhythm as a metaphor for inner life and the expression of being.

“Drawing on his extensive experience in philosophy, theology and dance, Fr. Paulo brought an inspiring perspective on the importance of the body and art on the path to self-knowledge and fulfilment. It was an opportunity for a mindful pause and for reconnecting with what is essential, recognising the role of artistic expression in well-being and academic success.”, says Daniela Teixeira, a member of the UCP4SUCCESS team.

The experience culminated in a Barre workshop at SOLO Dance Studio, where participants had the opportunity to do a low-impact functional workout combining elements of Ballet, Yoga and Pilates. This session was a moment of physical and emotional well-being, promoting strength, balance and confidence.

Part of the UCP Culture initiative of the UCP4SUCCESS project, the “Being in Motion” event sought to promote the integral development of UCP students by valuing the aesthetic, cultural and spiritual dimension of the academic experience.

This project is supported by the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES) and the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
