Solidarity “Picnic” (d)Eficiência Celebrates Inclusion
2025
The lawns of Universidade Católica Portuguesa’s campus in Porto were once again filled with energy and enthusiasm for another edition of the Solidarity Table Football Tournament, a joint action by CAtólica SOlidária (CASO) and the UCP4SUCCESS project, through the CULTURAUCP initiative.
Amid laughter and strategic moves, 32 participants — service users from Somos Nós, UCP students and staff — brought to life 16 games in which competitive spirit was combined with joy and inclusion.
The relaxed atmosphere of the Picnic that followed was the setting for genuine encounters, where stories, laughter and values were shared. It was precisely in this context that CULTURAUCP took part, inviting everyone to reflect on inclusion and community.
More than a tournament, this was a moment of collective building, in which diversity proved to be a strength and living together a path towards a more open and more participatory university.
Isabel Madureira, a Law student and head of CASO’s SER + Especial area, describes this moment as synonymous with joy and true inclusion at the University, in a relaxed and authentic atmosphere. She says that “more than a game, this is an unforgettable experience!”
The event, which took place on 15 May, had the support of the União de Freguesias de Aldoar, Foz do Douro e Nevogilde, which presented the prizes to the winners. The Tuna of Católica in Porto brought even more joy to the gathering, filling the atmosphere with music and good cheer.
